On December 7th, the founding ceremony of the 5th Editorial Committee of Chinese Geological Education was held at the International Conference Center of the University of Geosciences.
Sun Youhong, the president of our university and an academician of the CAE Member, Zhang Laibin, an academician of the CAE Member, Yu Sheng, the former executive deputy director of the Department of Earth Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ren Yunsheng, the president of the Institute of Disaster Prevention Science and Technology, Jia Wenlong, the vice president of the Chinese Academy of Natural Resources Economics, Zhang Pingsong, the vice president of Anhui University of Technology, Wang Qingfei, the vice president of East China University of Technology, Zeng Guoqiang, the vice president of Chengdu University of Technology, Jin Sheng, the vice president of Hebei University of Geosciences, Liu Dameng, Zhao Zhidan, the vice president of our university, Liu Zhiqiang, the director of the journal office of the Geological Society of China, the new editorial board and representatives of the last editorial board attended the meeting. The conference was jointly organized by the Editorial Committee of Chinese Geological Education and the Journal Center of our university, and three scholars were invited to give academic presentations. Our school's journal center director Wang Yinhong presided over the meeting.
The conference announced the list of the fifth editorial committee of the journal, consisting of over 60 experts and scholars. Academician Zhao Pengda serves as the honorary editor in chief of the journal, while Academician Sun Youhong, the president, serves as the editor in chief of the journal.
Liu Dameng delivered a speech on behalf of the school and presented a letter of appointment to the newly appointed editor in chief, Academician Sun Youhong. Liu Dameng said that since its founding in 1991, Chinese Geological Education has been forging ahead, starting from a conference journal and gradually growing into a highly anticipated educational academic journal in the field of geology. It carries the responsibility of disseminating geological education and scientific research achievements, and has achieved fruitful results in publication. He stated that under the leadership of the new editor in chief, Chinese Geological Education will definitely be able to become an academic boutique journal, and contribute to the development of geological education.
The newly appointed editor in chief, Academician Sun Youhong, delivered a speech and presented a letter of appointment to the new editorial board. On behalf of the school, he warmly welcomed the guests and experts present, congratulated the newly appointed editorial board members, paid high respect to the three former editors Xiong Zengxi, Bi Kongzhang, and Wu Gangguo, and expressed sincere gratitude to the colleagues of the previous editorial board who contributed to the development of the journal. Sun Youhong pointed out that as an important journal for educational theory and practice reform in geology and related disciplines in China, Chinese Geological Education has always adhered to the correct direction of public opinion and publication, closely focused on the core issues of geology education, and continuously promoted innovation in higher education concepts and practices. Sun Youhong emphasized that he will uphold the academic rigor and innovation of the former editor in chief, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the domestic and foreign academic and educational circles with all editorial board members, jointly promote the high-quality and high-level development of the journal, and contribute more to the development of China's geoscience industry.
At the meeting, Professor Yu Jicong, the deputy editor in chief of the previous editorial board, reviewed the history of the publication of "Chinese Geological Education" and suggested that the new editorial board further broaden its horizons and continuously enhance the academic influence of the journal. Xue Mei, the director of the editorial department of Chinese Geological Education, summarized and reported on the current development status, construction goals, and future plans of the journal. Experts and scholars attending the conference had in-depth exchanges on the high-quality construction of "Chinese Geological Education", promoting the development of Chinese geological education, enhancing academic influence, and strengthening characteristic thematic columns. They expressed the need to fully play the role of deputy editors and editorial board members, collect more high-level articles in the field of education, and make greater contributions to cultivating more outstanding geological and technological talents, promoting the prosperity and development of earth science, and serving the country and society.
